Door Knobs with a new look...

I got tired of the same 'ol look of gold so I ventured out with spray paint in hand!

1) sand the knobs with fine sand paper

(I went beyond...lamp did not need sanding)

2) spread all hardward out and spray

(I even painted the key to match)

3) allow to dry for 48 hrs. for a good finish

Spray paint used:

Rust-oleum

Metallic paint & primer in one

color: Oil Rubbed Bronze

Still crocheting and have taken up a knitting project that I have in my creative mind.

It is a scarf, the finished piece will have the letter "I" on the right and the letter "p" on the left...this is the left side...you can see it a little bit. A B-day gift for my son in April. It's just radom knit, pearl...thats about all I know well in the knitting world.

I am getting along well...the other hip is in need and the knees talk to me also...getting old is not a cake walk although I am thankful for each and everyday of LIFE.

On Jan. 16th my Grandson "Ethan James" was born!!

He weighted out a wappin 11.3 oz !!

Yep, Vivian and Lilian(Toots)have a little brother.

I have been through a New hip surgery (17^th) andrecovering over at my Moms. Doing well although it is a lot of work, thankfulfor everything that Mom does.

Being a Homecare person for years…I have a lot of memoriesof my dear Bob Williamson with a smile and a tear.

My Mom is my model for the cowl I made and will be seen on etsy.

I won a gift while I was laid up on Sassy Cheryl!! Thank-you Cheryl for all you Love of the art...maybe a digi of a nurse or doctor...I need to send a special card to them for all the great care I recieved at St. Johns Hospital.

New to Crocheting with a addition...

Crocheting has advanced…here are a few pieces I finished...
These basic scarf's twist and layer with a great look of fashion.

That was it for the basics, I needed more of a challenge....

This black variegated neck warmer was fun to do and I love the look...I will sale on etsy...once I get it there! I will have more pictures of it being worn.

And then there is a new adventure into knitting...my friend , Carol, introduced me with...needles and yarn and said, "Here, you can do this!" It took some time but once I got into it I was off and knitting for the finish of the skein!

I got some great encouragement and knowledge from the gals at "Custom Threads" and Carol asking, ""Hows it coming along?" It needs to be blocked and here again "Custom Threads" are there to assist me when I am ready...

So there you have it...so much for "NOT" adding on a new art and its supplies to my life...

I hated to leave but I had a family to raise by my self and had to leave for better pay.

Clocks in the making...

I started these Doll Clocks 2 weeks ago. Step-by-step they should be done for the holidays.
I will be adding to this posting as I progress to the finishing of 5 to 6 of them!

I made the pattern, got supplies.
Cutting out the pieces of wood was a joy...I got to use my cousin Debs shop...I will submit that at another time, it is a girls dream wood shop come true!
Then it was preping and painting time and Little Toots got in on that...

Toots' interest is so much fun to see and listen too...

So...we are this far at the end of the 3rd week.

I have 2 jobs that consist of Driving bus in the morning...working at the frame shop and then a noon bus route...what a change in life style to say the least!!

I have replaced the fake glass with real glass, for it looks so much better...I have also been doing more detailing which results into making just the clock and not adding arms, legs and faces.

Here is one that is just about done...5 total to make!

Jacket needs a home...

I had envisionedthis jacket for to many years and finally took on the challenge to make it…

The jacket was given to me from my Mom for it was to big for her...even after taking off the cuffs!

I in turn bought some cororoy and cotton woven material and went to work.

First I measured and cut out cuffs and a collar. After cutting bias stripes from the striped cotton they were sewn to the top pieces of each cuff and collar.

ALOT of hand sewing took place after the initial add on. Buttons were placed and I was finished...now for the fitting!

WELL...it fits ok but the sleeves are to long...from top of shoulder to end of cuff...is 26 inches...

SEW...I am in the studio but not working with paper as yet. I have another project in the makings...time will tell when I post it, but it will be soon...KEEP IN TOUCH!

Holding in the heat!

Each Year I have thought...if I were to make a curtain between one end of the house from the other, would I save $ on the heating bill...well this winter will be the big test!

BEFORE

I started by heading out to the storage to get that material that I have been saving to re-cover some chairs...I found it and its being used for the curtain!

I purchased a short tension curtain rod for a shower for it would have the straight. I then made a pocket at the top for the rod...hung it for length and width.

I had to add length as you can see!

YES...I love my BROTHER!

I then added a sash with some cording which was held back by a electric cord holder,

nailed to the frame behind.

Doing a project without chocolate...NOT...donations are excepted!!

AFTER

The recycle part of this project is....I added used batteries for weights at the bottom!

NOW...to see what the change in the electric bill is!

Antique Clothes Rack...

...has been with the family and on the move for at least 20 years.

The last 10 years it had a broken arm and 2 missing pegs.

My friend Steve Shellabarger (Fishie on Lures) ...again saved the day with his talent...

with parts and reconstructing a arm he was able to bring its use back into the family.

All that I needed to do was add some stain and a finish and the summer of 2011 clothes drying is in further operation.

Toots is now 19 months and playing...

...waiting for her BABY BROTHER

that will arrive in January 2012 !

...the joy of seeing friends, family and the kids to absorb the fun.

Paper Bagley was our sponsor at the spare of the moment...next year we will have more flare on the John Deere.

I have been working on this old milk jug for awhile. The paint is John Deere yellow and green.

I needed the old tractor seat placed so it can come off...I thought it through and with idea in mind I presented it to a local fishing lure / wood artist: Steve Shellabarger at Fishie On Lures

Here is what he worked out...he suggested that I put the duck tape around the bottom if I wanted a tighter fit...it was not needed but for a kid proof seal, it works. Now all it needs is a nice John Deere sticker!

Without the tape the chair would swivel!

These are the only chickens I have left since the remodel in 2008. The rooster on the left was given to me by Grandma Gail Moore, the wire chicken was a wedding gift from Janet Teevin Heilmann back in 1978. There are cedar eggs within it that were made by Mr. Sheets. The vintage sunflower pieces, canning jars & corn bread pan were my Grandma Helen Travess'. The bowl on the back left is my good table setting bought in 1980 and the right side bowl is my first table setting bought in 1976. The stool is the one that my father Francis Bagley sat on to milk our cow Bossy. The scale was given to me from my brother-in-law Donald Lee.

There is alot of history in a small corner.

LITTLE TOOTS

...Vivian, Mommy and Daddy all home safely. Vivian had to go home after the trip but her birthday is coming so we will see her then. Toots got to spend the nite for a few days and what a delight of thankfulness.

First things first this morning... .Grandmas tractor....one day those keys will be a issue!

The Trike was next...the streamers were the coolest part...Toots cant even push it as yet so that was not the highlight for the morning.

It was a city wide Garage Sale in Clatskanie and I was able to obtain this 1950's vintage table and 6 chairs. I had to wash them up and do some patching. They desperately need a reupholstering but time will be a element. Until then they will be used.

Step by step the trike is coming along. There was a broken part that the hubby fixed it. What a handy man he is. There is so much he can do but limited so he is on call with all of his knowledge and skill.

I went for a visit at my cousin Debs and of course she is making something....and in the process I had to take my hand at the art. Above is what I created...I will get a picture of her awesome studio and art later.

Since then...I have gotten together a tool box of my own to bring. Look out...the creative juices are flowin'!

Here is another project I did. I got some Aluminum Ducting tape, folded it in half, trimmed, made hole, stamped and wala...plant markers. These are for the son-in-laws raised garden beds. The thought was for Eli to get a visual of the plant name with the plant that Dad is growing...fun stuff!

Windows are from remodeled homes in the area and years of collecting.

It was time to really enjoy them.

Step 1: was pressure washing and dry time

Step 2: Sanding, taking off old paint and a good Windex cleaning

Toots was such a explorer and entertainer through the day. It called for a change of clothes before lunch.

It was lunch time and a bit of ice cream to keep the job flowing, so much for the change of clothes!

Great Grandma Eileen came by for a visit and got in on

cleaning up after lunch. Toots needed to show her how.

Step 3: After a bit of Deck Oil, a day to season, drilling holes for hanging they were up to enjoy.

The top window got a place in the dining room.

The other hangs on a hall in the bedroom.

Its finished...I added the butterfly for the kids to see...I had to give up a tall lamp for a table lamp so I lost my height...adding afew books under it solved the problem!

The day starts with a ride down to Bear Creek to collect rocks for a rock painting party...

This rock was discovered by Toots...we think it is Po from a animal, any guess' what it might be'?

...we had lots of fun throwing rocks and discovering creatures...Toots found this leaf...but wait it isn't a leaf...what is it? Click on the picture so you can see it closer!

Vivian, above and Kyla found these fish in the water. What kind are they?

After getting home we washed the rocks...Toots got a hold of the soap when no one was looking and had a great time.

After the rocks dried we painted them...oops no picture!

Dad got back from his trip and thought that getting us girls wet would be fun...

...and it was...what a great idea Dad! Toots is the naked monkey...of course the big girls followed suit...or is that no suit...not pictured!

It was about time to go home and Dad was helping with putting things away when...he found a lizard!

Springer Salmon...

Spring and I am clipping fins at Knat Creek Hatchery.

It is a part time job as it is every year although this is my first year, I have been told I am doing well.

The clipping of the atapost fin ID's the hatchery fish from the wild fish.

On the left is, Sherri Allen and me on the right.

Sherri clips 8000+ fish & I clip around 6000+ fish per day along with 10 other workers we can clip up to 60,000 per day.

Leslie Hebert, the 2011 granduate from Knappa that I made the gift for that is on the earlier post also works here as a part time job. In the picture above she, on the left is helping push fingering fish forward in the pond. I have been watching her and what a good worker she is.

I got a great surprise at work today...my son, Ian and the girls came to see where Grandma works...what a highlight!

Treats were brought in today so Toots had to test them...double fisted...thats my girl!

Other then that we mow the lawn and SWING!

the album fell before me...

This is the first page of the album I had started for my Mother-in-law, MOM, Virginia (Len) Rund.

July 3, 2008 my home flooded and in the process of getting items out her album has been miss placed since!

It was on Mothers Day 2011 that I was going through the storage shed in prepping for a Garage Sale that it fell from the top of a item that I pulled from a shelf.

With a tear in my eye...I was Thankful for I felt all was lost...all these years.

What a way to lift the spirits…

What have I been up to…I have little Tootsie so we have been spending a lot of time outside…one of her favorite things to do at Grandma Tootsies house.

Other days I work in the yard...

All of the die cuts are Quickutz, small leaves and spritz are punches, embossing is cuttlebug. I painted with Copic and used My minds eye tiny print, Bazzil solid paper, Making Memories is the striped paper. The tiny buttons were from the olden days when I was making my own Barbie doll clothes.

Little Toots has been in diapers for 14 months now and that is a lot of BABY WIPES! I am usually thinking "recycle" and when it came time to throw out the baggie with that nice plastic lid on it...I tore it off.
I looked it over and thought...I wonder?

It was off to my studio with a IDEA!

NOW...with the results...
A holder for "MY CARD"

I went ahead and designed the top and the underside...for display purposes.

I filled in the opening with clear plastic and framed it off. If you made one with not so much detail it would be good to throw in your purse but...
beings I go all out with detailing... I had fun!

Here it is all the way opened up so you can get the just of what this recycled lid looks like.

A Grandmothers Love...

Lee and Stuart Lahtis Grandmother,

Luoto was there from the begining.

At birth she was the mid-wife and was there for the boys...

in a way only a Grandmother would know and feel.

I won this digi from Sassy Cheryl show me #17...hey me!!

I could not wait to use it...I needed to alter it a bit for personalization for a special grad. It will be a work in progress for awhile for I still have my Lahti pages to get done. So follow along...it will be posted for another "Show Me" when i get done!

Gradall had kittens...

...it seems like she was just a kitten.

As I was preparing my postings this morning I thought I had better be getting ready for those kittens for Gradall is going to have them any time now. I got my rubber gloves out, got food ready to bring out, looked outside in the bed I prepared for her and Ta-Da...kittens.
Now this is one for Show Me #18 at Sassy Cheryls that you dont see!

I went ahead and flipped the sketch and stretched it out a bit and made a double page spread so I could get more pictures on it.

…another chapter in the Lahit boys lifes.

The journaling (PULL tab) beside the picture on page 1...

By the age of 17 Lee Lahti, his brother Stuart and cousins, Dale with brother Jamie Peck went into the service. Lee served in the Army and discharged after about a half a year. This was because he had a
severe on the train on the way to Kansas.

Brother, Stuart also in the Army, was stationed in Portway, Kansas. After Lee had gotten home he and
mother Hilda went to visit him in their 1947 Studebaker commander. Stuart was an electrician for the radios for the most part. He came home after the War.

Lee was given recognition by the United States Coast Guard, Group Astoria on November 2007.

Since I have been working on these pages and Lee is a drummer, Liz's rhythm inchie was perfect. I emailed her for permission with my thought in hand. With joy she said yes with attachments of her rhythm inchie...

As part of my care for the elderly I help them get their life's in a scrapbook/Genealogical form.

With work in progress it was time to make a page

and the need for inspiration!!

I subscribe to The Daily Dare and for the love of sketches...I submitted to...

Unscripted Sketches #98

...and got the top 3...Thank-you DT!

With heartfelt Thanks in what I do "do”… it pulls from my material items but rewards my spirit. It is a one on one, work in progress that could only be done by family, friends or someone like me. There are so many yet so few that takes the time to do it. I can’t seem to stop doing it.

I Love it for my love of the art goes right into their books and hearts. It is incredible how they respond to the love that I put into "Their Life" that has been important to them throughout. I have gotten to know friends and family that I have seen or heard about growing up…and then there they are. We laugh together, cry together and share life together, even if such a short time.

I would not like to leave the memories of life of these few that I have lost.

One day it will be my turn and will hope to have my life in a scrapbook for those that “Knew me” and for those that wondered.

Rhythm inchie…

My Mother, Eileen is very talented. One of those talents is her beautiful voice accompanied by her piano & organ playing.

Growing up I listened often and was memorized as I watched her totally enjoying herself.

As a young girl I was intrigued by that…tick tock coming from a gracious piece atop the piano.

I learned that mother was keeping time with what is called a Metronome. I tried to play but could only play by sound so it went no further. What us kids did like is when Mom played that special song...we would twirl around until we got dizzy...memories!

The Piano, stool and Metronome were my great grandparents. I have no idea where the Piano and stool are but I was fortunate to have gotten the Metronome handed down to me by my father, Francis.

In doing some research I have found that it is from within the 1920’s.

May the Rhythm from it carry on to future generations…

Angela organized a gift to the local communities, Tai Chi class for the elderly for free. In hearing about this, even though I am not elderly, although some times feel like it, I went to the first session. I needed to pay for my young age...understandable! The classes have been wonderful. It has been nice to see people that one does not see all the time and to connect to those you don't know. Thank-you to Angela

"The Journey", card is a double emboss cut out by Spellbinders.

I have created this by coloring in a stamped image with Copic markers.
Fussy cut each stamped image then took each color marker to darken the edges.
Hand embossed and then layered with foam-dots within and out.
